Charles and Mary Clayton purchased this property in 1928. Contractor J. P. Spearman erected the duplex cottage the same year, and the house had tenants in 1929. Finely shaped brackets support gabled porticos at each end of the transverse gable.

Eugene Sergi was an Italian immigrant who set up a stonework and cement contracting business in Fort Worth following World War I.
