This Tulsa Way dwelling presumably was constructed as a speculative investment by W. Henry and Lizzie Bell Tompkins, who contracted with builder Homer H. Tompkins and Sloan Lumber Co. in 1926. Andrew J. and Clara Brown purchased the house in 1927 and resided here the same year. Brown was an oil operator, president and general manager of A. J. Brown Developing Corporation, and later, president of Red Rose Oil Co. The two-story house has a generally rectangular plan; an asymmetrical, jerkinhead gable projects forward to give the appearance of an L-plan. Clad in variegated yellow and brown brick the house revives the image of a period European cottage.
