Growing up in Shreveport Louisiana, Warren Gould was the youngest of four boys. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at LSU, joined a fraternity and had a marvelous time. That is, until he signed up for a required foreign language course that met at 8:00 am three days a week. His alternative? Drop out of LSU and join the US Army.
For the next 33 months, Warren served admirably, including an obligatory assignment to the Republic of Vietnam for a year. After 11 months, 12 days and 9 ½ hours in that exotic locale, Warren was transferred to the Department of the Army in Washington, DC. Having achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, he was honorably discharged, and, with the help of GI Bill, he returned to LSU — with a much more mature attitude!
An early acceptance to Baylor Law School set the stage for his legal career. With his JD in hand, Warren became Assistant City Attorney in Arlington for two years before moving to Fort Worth to start his private practice in Civil Law. His career was devoted to a thriving practice helping people with disabilities obtain disability benefits as allowed by the Social Security Administration. Warren was awarded a certificate from the State Bar of Texas acknowledging his 50 year membership. Those years were also filled with his profound love of history and the artistry inherent in historical objects, interests that continue to this day.
Mary Kathryn Anderson grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from TCU with a degree in Home Economics and Education; she later earned a Masters degree in Consumer Science. Fresh out of TCU, her first job was with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service as Home Economist for Galveston County. Over the years, her work — paid and unpaid, fulltime or parttime — has reflected her love of families and children, education and art.
One of the most fulfilling was her role as Director of Community Development at the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Though she retired in 2012, her heart is still there. In retirement, she continued her lifelong love of designing and sewing most of her clothes. It all began the summer after 6th grade when she and her best friend from elementary school rode the bus from Bluebonnet Circle to downtown Fort Worth to take sewing lessons from the Singer Sewing Machine Company. She has been sewing ever since.
Creative interests extend to her two decades having served as a docent at the Kimbell Art Museum. Mary Kathryn insists that every time she walks in for a tour or further training, she feels privileged to have become a Kimbell docent.
Community involvement is in her blood and will always be focus, but her very best job ever has been being Mother to Ellecia, Stewart, and Margaret; Mother-in-Law to Edmund, Blair and Drew; and TuTu to Mimi, Kathryn, Marie, Franny, Gracie, Anders and Guy.
Mary Kathryn and Warren have been happily married for 13 years. Warren continues to seek out good buys on antiques and to plan trips to historical sites across the country, and Mary Kathryn loves looking for fun fabrics and planning her next Kimbell docent tour!
