Fillingim House – Valley Ridge

Frank M. and Alta L. Fillingim resided in this house from 1937 to 1946; Mr. Fihingim was president of Fillingim Motor Co., and later was manager of Greenwood Cemetery. The Georgian Revival style house is two stories in height, faced in warm red brick set in Flemish bond with a gable roof clad in red clay shingle tile. The symmetrical front elevation has a pedimented entry flanked by small paned, double-hung windows. A brick, one-story wing recedes on the west, and a wood-framed wing is located on the east. A. C. Luther is remembered as responsible for erecting the house; presumably architect Joseph J. Patterson designed the structure for the developers Byrne & Luther, Inc.
