Streetlights – 5th

These ornamental light standards, produced by the Union Metal Co. of Canton, Ohio, were installed along seven blocks of Fifth Avenue (within the Ryan Place development) between 1924 and 1928. They have flaring bases, fluted metal poles and lantern-like luminaires suspended from curved arms. These original streetlights are within the boundaries of the Fairmount-Southside Historic District (local and national). The Fairmount Neighborhood Association has been installing similar streetlights elsewhere in the district. The accompanying photograph was taken in 2007 of a standard in the 2900 block of 5th Avenue.
