Forest Park Apothecary Shop and Doctors’ Offices – Forest Park

The siting of this two-story building provides for interesting access to it. The lower story is accessed from a parking lot and the upper story is accessed by a drive along the west elevation that connects the parking lot and Forest Park Boulevard. The first floor is used for retail space and the upper story is used as a doctor’s office. Its flat roof, window arrangements and mixture of wall material—orange brick, travertine and irregular-coursed Austin stone—make it an interesting example of a 1950s medical office building. E. L. Bauer was the builder and the architect was A. B. Wilkinson. Upon the attainment of 50 years of age, it may be eligible for the National Register for its architecture.
