Description:
Cliff Garten, artist of the Avenue of Light sculptures along Lancaster Avenue, has been quoted as saying, “They relocated a freeway to preserve historic buildings! Only in Fort Worth, Texas!” The buildings preserved included this Wyatt C. Hedrick-designed Texas and Pacific Railway Passenger Terminal, as well as the US Post Office and Texas and Pacific Warehouse. The Art Deco station and office building included a lavish lobby—with brass, glass, plaster, and marble embellishments—that left travelers with a lasting impression of Fort Worth. Completed in 1931, the 12-story landmark, like so many of its kind and era, eventually fell into disuse thanks to the proliferation of automobiles and interstate highways. Rail travel began to decline shortly after the terminal opened, and the last passenger train stopped in 1967. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, preservationists successfully rallied to save the old T & P Terminal in the 1980s when it was slated for demolition as part of interstate expansion plans. The lobby was meticulously restored in 1999, and the upper floors were rehabilitated into residences, opening in 2006.

Located in downtown Fort Worth, with easy access to public transportation, residents are drawn to the T & P Lofts building. Amenities include an in-house bar—the T & P Tavern—and on-site commuter rail access. This 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo is six floors up and the first unit off the elevator. This corner condo features amazing sunset views and a panoramic view of downtown Fort Worth. The master bedroom easily fits a queen or king-sized bed, plus the second bedroom is great as an office or queen-sized bedroom. The larger dining area is perfect for those with home-sized furniture. This spotless unit features many upgrades and granite countertops in addition to the original exposed concrete and terrazzo floors.
