Alyssa Banta – Great Steward Award

Alyssa Banta for her growing collection of historic residences that she restores and rents through her business, Rent Historic Fort Worth.

As the daughter of two U.S. immigrants, Alyssa’s parents instructed her to “do what you love”, and Banta had a passion for the arts. She double majored in fine arts and political science, and then earned a master’s degree in anthropology. She began a career as a freelance photographer and upon returning to Fort Worth, Banta bought a two story house that needed work and lived upstairs and rented out the downstairs.

Today she owns six multifamily buildings, with 20 doors and 32 tenants. All of the properties she owns are historic, and many are located in Fairmount and others are near Camp Bowie Blvd. She constantly looks for reasonably-priced, quirky places with great bones, fixes them up and then rents them to those who can appreciate their architectural contributions. For Banta, restoring buildings is just another artistic expression.
