This brick house was built in 1928 for Marvin B. Simpson, an attorney, in the newly opened Park Hill subdivision. Partial half-timbering on the second story and a crenelated balcony over the entry are evocative of Tudor architecture. The house was purchased by R. E. Cox, Sr. in the later 1930s and lived in by the Cox family until 1967. Cox was president of R. E. Cox Drygoods, Co., precursor of Cox’s Department Stores.
